The islands of the Venetian lagoon are just as fascinating as the city itself.
The first stop is San Francesco del Deserto, home to a secluded monastery still in use today, which legend holds was founded by St. Francis of Assisi when he stopped there while returning from the Middle East. We'll move on to Torcello where we'll have lunch at one of Venice's most famous restaurants. Before heading back to the city center, we'll enjoy the serenity of San Lazzaro degli Armeni, once a leper colony in the 12th century now home to a stunning Benedictine monastery.
