Is the Vasari Corridor Open?

The Vasari Corridor is not yet open to the public but it is set re-open at the end of 2024.  It has been closed since 2016 and has undergone in-depth restoration. The reopening will allow visitors to once again explore this historic passage that connects the Uffizi Gallery to the Pitti Palace, offering unique views and access to a remarkable collection of artwork.

When will the Vasari Corridor Open?

The latest communication from the director of the Uffizi states that the Vasari Corridor will open by the end of 2024! While they have given open dates in the past that have not come to fruition, we hope this time the grand reopening will finally happen!

The Vasari Corridor winds through some of Florence’s most iconic landmarks, starting inside the Uffizi, crossing over the Ponte Vecchio and ending in the Boboli Gardens. What was the purpose of the Vasari Corridor?

The Vasari Corridor was commissioned by Duke Cosimo I de’ Medici in 1565 for his son Francesco’s wedding to Joanna of Austria. Giorgio Vasari extraordinary aerial walkway. It allowed the Grand Dukes to move from their residence at Pitti Palace to the seat of government at Palazzo Vecchio in safety.

Is Vasari Corridor open to the public?

After 8 years, the long-awaited reopening of the Vasari Corridor is set for the end of this year! Although previously stated to re-open in May 2024 we now hope that by December 2024 you will be able to visit the Vasari Corridor on our private Vasari Corridor Tour.

All our tours except our Sex, Drugs and Renaissance tour are kid friendly. When doing a private tour with us, you have your own guide, so tell us in the notes of the booking the ages of your kids and we will tailor the tour and choose a guide that’s great for kids for you. We also have 4 special kids’ tours in Florence.

All tours are conducted in English only unless otherwise noted or requested. Other languages available for all private tours on request.

We are offering mainly Private and some Semi-private tours at the moment. We do not offer many semi private small group tours anymore due to the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. The difference between Private and Semi-private is that the private tours are fully private tours with your own guide and the Semi-private are small shared group tours where individuals can join others.

Yes, you can combine this tour with the Original Florence Walk and the David tour to cover all the highlights of Florence, but we recommend spreading the tours over at least 2 days.

Yes, children of all ages are allowed on the tour.

You won’t have to wait in line with the rest of the visitors that do not have a reservation, there is a separate entrance for people who have skip-the-line reservation but you still have to go through security check and there might be a line for that.

Yes, there is a ramp and an elevator in the Uffizi gallery.

The shared group tour runs in English only, but we can arrange private tours in other languages.
