Murder & Mystery Florence Evening Walking Tour
Dive into the dark past of Florence on our evening walking tour.
Explore the charming yet little-known Oltrarno district on our guided evening walk. We’ll take you through centuries of intrigue and down ancient cobblestone streets. To famous Renaissance palaces bristling with stories of crime and punishment. To breath taking riverside views of the Ponte Vecchio. And into the sordid story of the bitter and bloody feud that divided Florence for centuries.
Learn about the ‘Black Art of Poisoning’ used in Renaissance Florence. Plus, we’ll tell you about the nefarious branch of chemistry endorsed by Cosimo I and the Medici.
Our evening walk will take you on a whirlwind of history. Journey back in time to the eleventh and twelfth centuries and to life in the Middle Ages. Learn how adept the Medici family was at court intrigue and murder. Hear stories of palace rumors, court lovers and Romeo and Juliet style trysts. Visit the artisan districts and workshops that are the same since the Renaissance. See old Florence’s favorite medieval flagellation spot.
We’ll tell you the influential names and faces that changed history. Some names you’ll be sure to recognize. We’ll tell you about Dante Alighieri and his exile by the Pope. About Michelangelo’s dark mast. About the cunning mastermind that was Machiavelli (you’ll know him as the author of the The Prince!).
We’ll do all this, and more, while showing you some of Florence’s most stunning views. Our evening walk will take you around Florence in the golden hours before sunset. Tour ends with an elegant cocktail on a rooftop terrace. There, you can enjoy a glass of red or a prosecco while overlooking one of Oltrarno’s most famous Piazzas.

When we look for walking tours we don’t look for tours of the big sights, but want to experience the back streets and little known neighborhoods. The Murder & Msytery: Evening Walk provided that experience. Our tour guide was familiar with the Oltarno District, showed us artists at work, unique views and restaurants and told us stories of the neighborhood. We finished with tasting not only wine, but olive oil and balsamic as well. It was a wonderful glimpse of back street Florence.

Our tour provided some excellent insights into the other side of the river. The tour guide gave us some excellent recommendations for restaurants and provided some very in depth details of life in the middle ages. The tour had the most instructive wine tasting of our trip.

We had a wonderful time on the Murder & Mystery – Florence Evening Walk . This was directly due to our guide who made this experience fun and informative. Her pleasant personality and warmth made us feel like we were out with an evening with our friends. The wine tasting was excellent and her advice regarding the restaurant we chose was a perfect end to a wonderful evening. Thank you for a great time!

This tour highlights not only historic buildings and back streets in Florence but some of the fun stories of intrigue, love and shady business practices that took place there. Get a sense of how life was lived, business was done and power was developed. It was like a behind the scenes view of life hundreds of years ago. Awesome.

Artviva was a great choice for tours. The Tuscany tour was the highlight of the trip to Florence. The small group tour beats larger tours any day. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend this tour. Will use Artviva on future trips!

We were fortunate to have a wonderful guide, Ishmael, whose knowledge of the City was terrific. The aperitifs at the top of the hotel in San Spirito with views of the Florence hillsides at sunset were a great way to cap the tour. We had walked to areas earlier without a guide but having someone knowledgeable to tell you what you were seeing added to the experience multi-fold.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour,. Our guide was personable and knowledgeable and revealed to us parts of Florence we had yet to venture. I would recommend this tour and would do it again!!!
