Q: Why choose a private tour?

Most of our customers enjoy having the benefits of a private tour. You have your own guide. You can have rest stops when you like. We can tailor the tour to suit your needs and preferences. We always choose the best guide for your needs, whether you are a family, an art school, or a company doing an incentive event.

Q: Are the tours kid friendly?

All our tours except our Sex, Drugs and Renaissance tour are kid friendly. When doing a private tour with us, you have your own guide, so tell us in the notes of the booking the ages of your kids and we will tailor the tour and choose a guide that's great for kids for you. We also have 4 special kids' tours in Florence.

Q: What should I bring on my tour?

No large bags or backpacks in museums, in churches shoulders and knees must be covered so bring a scarf to cover your shoulders. IF it's a walking, bicycle or a countryside tour make sure to bring comfortable shoes. It's important for everyone to bring their ID student or children for the museum

Q: Is the tour in English?

All tours are conducted in English only unless otherwise noted or requested. Other languages available for all private tours on request.

We recommend arriving 15 minutes before departure time for all tours and services

Q: Do you offer private tours?

We are offering mainly Private and some Semi-private tours at the moment. We do not offer many semi private small group tours anymore due to the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. The difference between Private and Semi-private is that the private tours are fully private tours with your own guide and the Semi-private are small shared group tours where individuals can join others.

Q: What can I wear in an Italian church?

Knees and shoulders must be covered to enter the churches! Travelling in hot weather? Don't worry, you can drape a shawl over your shoulders.

Q: Is it appropriate to tip your guides?

If you enjoyed your tour and would like to give your guide a token of appreciation, tips are happily accepted. When asked, the office staff recommends whatever amount you feel comfortable with giving.

The finer tour details:

Length: 3 hours – approximately 2.5 hours of Original Florence Walk and 30 minutes in the Accademia for the Original David Tour

Includes: Your own private guide, all pre-reserved museum entries and reservation fees for the Accademia, entry to 2 churches (time permitting) with the rest of the activity being outdoors

Excludes: Optional gratuities

Dress code: Please make sure that shoulders and knees are covered for entrance into churches!

Unavailable dates: The Accademia Gallery is closed on Mondays, the 1st of May, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day & New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Unavailable on the first Sunday of each month as museums entry is free and they do not accept reservations for those days, meaning we cannot guarantee entry times.

Skip-the-line entry: Artviva pre-reserves your tickets in advance but please note that even with reservations, there is still a compulsory security check which may cause some delays in entering the museum. We guarantee that in spite of any eventual delays, our guides ensure all aspects of our museum tour are covered.

I found the experience most enjoyable. The tour was easily manageable walking around the centre then to the museum. Our guide was clear and very knowledgeable she was able to enthuse us all with her passion. We were able to have flexibility at the museum afterwards. We all thoroughly enjoyed this. Well done.

Tour guide was exceptional — not only did he know so much about the art, the artist, and the time period, but he was also personable and welcomed our questions. Easy to book the tour. Hope to do another tour with him before we leave or maybe next time. It’s fine to see the sites on your own, but I enjoy learning the details, facts, and trivia about the items or places from a well-informed guide.

Well worth the time and money. I was traveling with three teenage grandchildren and insisted that they experience some “culture” other than tasting Gelato. The tour guide gave interesting info in an interesting manner. It was the perfect amount of time. And, my grandchildren were interested and even discussed some of the information during the week. We have a wonderful memory…and, they have material for a school essay!

My adult daughter and I loved this introduction to Florence by Riccardo, who was an excellent guide. He knew the city well and spoke eloquently about its history, its art, and its architecture and sculpture. There was a line to pick up tickets at the Accademia, even for guides, and he directed us to a cafe for espresso while he picked up the tickets! I would be happy to take another tour with Riccardo and to take any ArtViva tour.
