Apparently not many people sign up for this tour; maybe they think the price is high? Please don’t let the price deter you from taking this fantastic tour. This was a true private tour, and our guide Catherine gave us her undivided attention for at least 3.5 hours. We visited some amazing shops where the artisans showed us their work, such as bookbinding and painting restoration. She even helped us buy some great gifts for our family. Mind you, this is NOT a cheap “shopping tour” where the tour guide brings you to specific places that give kickbacks. Several days before taking this tour, we learned that Kentucky tobacco is grown in Tuscany and is used to make Tuscan cigars. Since our cousin loves cigars, we asked Catherine if she knew where we can buy some. She actually didn’t know but when we spotted a tobacco shop we popped in and she became an impromptu translator. I was so glad we took this tour! It totally surpassed our expectations.

A visit to the artisan workshops shows your Florence from a different perspective. Yes, the art galleries, the historical sites are a must but visiting these workshops actually tells and shows that some of those arts are still alive and kicking. Real eye opener.
