Rick Everingham-An Artist in Tuscany

Born in Australia in 1945, Rick Everingham has established himself as a successful and well-respected artist. He now has a house in Tuscany, Italy, where he and his wife spend a lot of time living and travelling in Italy.

Touring in Italy, and travel throughout Greece and France in 1991 provided the artist with inspiration for a whole new body of work, inspired as he was by the European architecture, the people and nature.

It is however mostly Italy that has been his art guide - in visiting Italy, travelling in Italy and experiencing Italy first-hand. Since 1999, Everingham and his wife have owned a house in a small Tuscan village, where he has also created a studio, enabling him to fully immerse himself in the lifestyle and landscapes of Italy, perfectly captured in his works.

Having exhibited since 1970, Everingham has shown his paintings extensively throughout Australia and internationally, holding exhibitions in the US, Japan, and Italy.

With the simple elements of oil and acrylic on board or canvas, Everingham is able to perfectly capture not only the trueness of his subject matter, but also the subtlety of light, textures and reflections on surfaces and the feel of a place, perfectly capturing the emotion of one moment in a timeless piece of art.

His paintings elicit a feeling of being actually within the painting, looking out of a window facing onto a Venetian canal, sitting in caffés on a visit to little Tuscan villages, window-shopping while touring Lucca.

Recently, Everingham has extended his work into sculpture. Whilst he will never abandon his love of painting, the artist has lately produced well-received pieces in marble and bronze.

Everingham’s ability to transmit his passion for life in his works means his works evoke a true feeling of energy and positive enjoyment of his subject locations.
